Call for Submissions: Travelogues from the 2025 Great Compassion Guanyin World Peace Prayer Ceremony and Pilgrimage
An Auspicious and Rare Opportunity, a Once-in-a-Millennium Event
On April 10, 2025, in front of the Boudhanath Stupa in Nepal, a vow spanning time and space will be fulfilled. From the prophecy given by Kyabje Chatral Rinpoche in 2003, to the unfolding of karmic connections over more than two decades, this Great Compassion Avalokiteshvara World Peace Prayer Ceremony, bringing together three principal masters—Kyabje Kathok Situ Rinpoche, Kyabje Kathok Rigzin Chenpo Rinpoche, and Kyabje Dingji Gongjang Rinpoche—and thousands of monastics, will finally commence amidst the morning bells and evening drums of this sacred land of the Himalayas. The Dharma sounds will resound like a tide, the chanting like a vast ocean, offering prayers for world peace and dedicating merit for the liberation of all sentient beings from suffering.
The Path of Learning, Each Step a Lotus Blossom
Beyond this grand ceremony, the four-day pilgrimage journey is like a string of Bodhi beads connecting wisdom and merit:
April 9th: A pilgrimage to Pharping, from the thousand-year-old atmosphere of Guru Rinpoche’s meditation cave to the self-awakening at the Vajrayogini Temple, every step is a manifestation of the profound meaning of the hidden treasure teachings.
April 11th: The convergence of Guru Rinpoche’s inner accomplishment empowerment and the Amitabha Buddha’s guidance practice, the Phowa practice guiding through life and death, directly pointing to the luminous nature of the mind.
April 12th: The nectar of Sangye Menla and Tara’s blessings, planting the seeds of wisdom and compassion in the hearts of the practitioners.
Using the Pen as a Lamp to Illuminate Our Original Intention
We sincerely invite all fellow practitioners who experience this journey to use words as a vessel to carry those who are destined to connect with this Dharma. Record the fleeting moments of inspiration during the ceremony, write about the moments of awakening during the pilgrimage; share the stories of Dharma connections that transcend time and space. Your written reflections on your pilgrimage may be the spark that rekindles the inner light of another being;
The moments of Dharma joy you record may become the guiding star that helps others navigate through the darkness of night.
May all words transform into the mantra of Tara, may all sharing manifest the thousand hands and eyes of Guanyin Bodhisattva, and may your compassion and vows help all beings to quickly be free from suffering and attain liberation!
We look forward to writing a chapter of Bodhi together with you during the 2025 Nepal trip!
