Eight levels of fasting and retribution
1. Don’t kill. It can achieve a long life and no disease in this life or the next.
2. Don’t steal. It can achieve food and clothing in this life or the next.
3. Not non-Brahma (non-fornication). It can achieve a dignified appearance in the next life, rejoice in those who see it, and harmonious relationships between husband and wife.
4. Don’t lie. It can achieve that in this life or the next life it will not be deceived, and that the words spoken will be convincing.
5. Don’t drink alcohol. It can improve memory and avoid drowsiness and foolishness.
6. Don’t sleep in a high and wide bed. You can break arrogance and pleasure, and you will be loved by everyone in the next life.
7. Don’t eat after noon. You can get food and salary in the next life without worrying about scarcity, and all kinds of tools are sufficient.
8. Do not apply fragrance. The former achieves a good appearance, a perfect body, and no peculiar fragrance; the latter achieves the softening of the body and mind in the next life and the good and wonderful body of the Buddha
The first four fundamental precepts of the Eight Precepts are the precepts, the fifth is the non-indulgence branch, and the last three are the prohibition branches, and the above eight precepts are all practiced.
