The Tree of Life: The Universe and Body and Mind in Tibetan Medicine Mantang

In the extreme environment of the roof of the world, Tibetan medicine “Sovarepa” has given birth to a set of life wisdom that runs through heaven, earth and people. Based on the “five elements” theory, it regards the human body as a microcosm and maintains health through the dynamic balance of the three factors of “Long”, “Chiba” and “Bacon”.

In the 8th century AD, the medical masterpiece “Four Medical Classics” was compiled by Yutuo Nyingma Yundan Gombot and the essence of multinational medicine. This classic was once “hidden” due to historical turmoil, and was rediscovered in the 11th century and revised and improved by Uto Samayun Dan Kampo. The first woodcut “Zhatang Edition” in the 16th century, and the knowledge visualization project realized in the 17th century with 80 “Mantang” wall charts, jointly promoted the preservation and dissemination of Tibetan medicine. In 2023, the “Four Medical Dictionaries” will be included in the “Memory of the World Register”, highlighting its immortal value.

Tibetan medicine is not only a cure, but also a way of enlightenment. Traditions such as “Yutuo Xin Yao” guide practitioners to inner awakening by harmonizing the subtle balance of body and mind. This thousand-year-old tree of life tells us that true health is the resonance of body and mind with nature. In this ancient wisdom, everyone can become a new branch of the tree of life, and the flower of immortal wisdom blooms in contemporary times.
